Bev Silldorf

Beverly is a dedicated and passionate member of Beth Israel, where her lifelong commitment to Judaism has shaped her journey and community involvement. Her connection to Beth Israel dates back to her childhood when she was consecrated at the age of five and attended Sunday school for 12 years, solidifying her identity as a Jewish woman. Beverly also spent nine years attending Jewish day camp and overnight camp, and during college, she joined a Jewish sorority, further deepening her Jewish roots.

For nearly five decades, Beverly and her husband, Howard, have maintained a strong bond with Congregation Beth Israel. They were married 48 years ago in a Jewish wedding officiated by a Rabbi from Beth Israel and have maintained a 49-year association with the synagogue. Beverly and Howard’s children attended Beth Israel for preschool and day school, where both sons celebrated their Bar Mitzvahs and confirmations. Their two granddaughters also attended preschool at Beth Israel.

Throughout the years, Beverly and Howard have been actively involved in various synagogue initiatives, including numerous fundraising campaigns, most notably the Torah project for the 150th Anniversary of Beth Israel. Beverly has also served on the Beth Israel Rabbinic Search Committee and the Nominating Committee. Beyond her involvement at Beth Israel, Beverly has held leadership roles in the broader Jewish and local community, serving as President of the Women’s Auxiliary at Seacrest and as Parent Association President at La Jolla Country Day School. She is also a lifetime member of Hadassah.

Beverly’s connection to her faith deepened in 2022 when she proudly became a Bat Mitzvah. This milestone reflects her unwavering commitment to her Jewish identity and community.

Professionally, Beverly holds a California Teaching Credential and worked in human resources until her retirement. An avid runner, Beverly has completed 14 marathons in 12 years, achieving the Abbott World Marathon 6 Stars distinction in 2023, an accomplishment earned by only 17,679 Six Star Finishers worldwide.

Beverly’s journey is marked by her dedication to family, community, faith, and personal growth.
