For over 30 years, Beth Israel’s San Diego Hunger Project relies on wonderful volunteers like you to help us serve lunch to hundreds of San Diego’s homeless and hungry on Sunday mornings at St. Vincent de Paul Village. Your help is needed to set up, serve and clean up. Volunteers over the age of 12 are welcome (accompanied by an adult). Beth Israel provides food, funding and volunteers for this program. Cash donations are also needed.
The Men’s Club coordinates volunteers for the Hunger Project on the 5th Sunday of the month.
The Beth Israel Hunger Project was founded by member Joan Kutner more than 25 years ago, and has fed hundreds of thousands in need. All volunteers agree to adhere to “Joan’s Rule,” the guiding principle of the Hunger Project’s founder:
Please greet everyone you serve with a smile and ‘Good Morning.’ You just may be the first person who has greeted them warmly in days, and you just might be getting their new week off to a better start.
