Welcome Home!
June 9, 2021
Dear Beth Israel Members and Friends,
After many months of experiencing a world-wide pandemic which profoundly changed the way we lived our lives, we are excited to share with you our plans to recommence more expansive in-person activity on our beloved Beth Israel campus.
As many of you are aware, we are anticipating that the CDC, California and local health agencies will be lifting Covid-19 related restrictions on June 15, with the exception that the mask requirement will likely remain for those unvaccinated. Based on the recommendation of our Reopening Task Force, in consultation with clergy and staff, we have made the decision to return to our pre-COVID levels of in-person operations progressively beginning with the first outdoor Summer Shabbat service on June 18.
At this time there will no longer be a cap on attendees and reservations will not be required. An oneg will follow services.
Safety and inclusion remain our focus. While we ensure that our facility is ready for our in-person attendees, we will also continue to strengthen our virtual offerings. Following June 18, our reopening progress will be based on operational readiness and the guidance of the medical and scientific community.
Although masks may not be required for vaccinated individuals in San Diego, we encourage those who come to our campus to wear masks. We feel this is the most sensitive approach to the personal considerations and caution our members may feel as we resume activity.
In closing, this is an important milestone for the world and our Beth Israel community. It has been a long journey for all of us. It is our hope in the weeks and months ahead, we will be able to join fully together as a community. We will be ready to warmly welcome you when you are ready to come back to Beth Israel.
