Marge Schane has been an active member of Beth Israel since 1968. In May of 2016, Marge celebrated her bat mitzvah. Marge has served on the Cemetery and Mausoleum Committee. She also served on the Membership and Kelliah Caring committee and helped start Beth Israel’s Caring Community. Additionally, Marge participated in Beth Israel’s Leadership program and was a member of Beth Israel’s Board of Directors from 2010 to 2016. In 2013, Marge received Beth Israel’s volunteer of the year award.

She has been a member of Women of Beth Israel for several years serving on the board as Co-President. Recently she has been elected to serve once again as Co-President.

In the community Marge has served on the Jewish Healing Center committee and was a committee member for Project SARAH (Stop Abusive Relationships at Home) where she helped in fundraising for several events.  She is an active member of Planned Parenthood.

Marge and her husband, Sanford, are originally from Detroit having moved to San Diego in 1965. They have two married daughters and two grandchildren, all of whom live in San Diego. Their daughters Sheryl and Debra both celebrated their B’not Mitzvah, confirmation and marriages at Beth Israel.

After graduating from law school, Marge became a probation officer for the county of San Diego, where she worked for over 13 years.

She currently works with Cruises Inc. as a vacation specialist in the travel industry. Her niche is selling luxury travel.  Marge serves not only the San Diego community but the entire United States and Canada.
