as a teen held leadership positions in his Synagogue youth group and NFTY. As an adult, he taught in religious schools (including confirmation classes at Beth Israel), led trips to Israel and helped to form a Jewish day school. He has been a member of the Beth Israel Chai band for nearly 20 years and has served on the Beth Israel Finance Committee for three years.

A native of New York, Buddy moved to California in 1977 to practice as a CPA and to get away from the snow. In the 1990s, he moved into the corporate world as the CFO of several regional and national healthcare companies. In 2017, after five years as the treasurer of the board of Camp Mountain Chai, Buddy stepped in as interim executive director and ultimately the permanent director once he realized he could be at camp all the time.
