Tuesday, March 10, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

MidraSHOW is a new Jewish theatrical project that makes Jewish and secular concepts relevant and personal using theater, film, and visual arts. We create unique Jewish multimedia experiences. On March 10 we will be premiering our first show called “Without Walls.” It will be held at the Lyceum Theater in downtown San Diego.

7:00 pm Beer Tasting and Hors d’oeuvres
8:00 pm MidraSHOW: Without Walls
Tickets start at just $20.

MidraSHOW is a combination of two words: A Midrash is a traditional story that brings out the values inherent in Jewish texts. A show, is well, an awesome show and night out with friends! MidraSHOW aims to create a kind of modern Midrash by putting on awesome shows that make Jewish values relevant and personal.

“Without Walls” follows one family across three generations as they grow up, get married, and build their lives. The show explores their relationship with, as odd as this sounds, a pesky fence in the yard. Although it sounds strange, the fence is a metaphor for how they perceive and interact with each other, the world, and even themselves. Should they put up walls, or break them down? Exploring how they deal with the fence reveals the values, relationships, and emotions that make them, and all of us, tick. It is a show about every Jewish family, and every relationship. It is based on an age-old Jewish story re-imagined to reflect modern life, while keeping the underlying meaning and values intact. As part of the production, specially produced short-films are woven into the acting that connect the concepts and values back to Jewish texts. It promises to be a fun and thought provoking experience.
