From Auschwitz to Activism – 70 Years on From the Holocaust

You are warmly invited to attend the annual Community Holocaust Commemoration which will take place Sunday, April 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the David and Dorothea Garfield Theatre of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS, 4126 Executive Drive, La Jolla.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Steven Windmueller, Rabbi Alfred Gottschalk Emeritus Professor in Jewish Communal Service Hebrew Union College—Jewish Institute of Religion. A specialist on political issues and American Jewish affairs, Dr. Windmueller holds a doctorate in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and has held academic appointments at several major institutions of higher learning. He has appeared on CNN, PBS, NBC, and other nationally syndicated media offering commentaries on Jewish public affairs matters.

The entire program will last approximately 90 minutes. The Community Holocaust Commemoration, held in San Diego for more than 30 years, is one of the largest Yom HaShoah programs in the United States. Last year more than 500 people attended.

The event is a collaboration of the San Diego Rabbinical Association, Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County, the New Life Club, the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center Jacobs Family Campus, the Center for Jewish Culture, Jewish Family Service, Jewish Community Foundation, and the Anti-Defamation League. There is no charge and no need to RSVP.
